Good post. Not everyone can (or should) pirate Photoshop. I think GIMP will remain the king of the Photoshop alternatives for a while to come.

From my prospective, paint.net is the best compromise as it is 100% free, it has many plugins for effects and it is really easy to use.

I agree, these are great programs. But the title is misleading: these are NOT all PS alternatives, Inkscape ie. is a great vector program, so not for photo manipulating. The correct title would be 15 great and free graphical programs. thanks.
