Minimalism in design means removing the unnecessary elements and focus on simplicity. Minimalist design has been applied in different field such as visual art, music, architecture as well as wed design. It is highly influenced by Japanese traditional design, where it doesn’t have fancy colors or effects , and focus only on the fundamental features.
In this article, we are going to see how these web designs implement the idea of minimalism. These 60+ websites showcase how to built a minimalistic design by using simple and basic elements. Remember, less is more.

Wow! cool! cheers!
Yo! Another cool collection here!
Really nice collection, especially like #1.
Thanks.
Great roundup.
And here comes a shameless plug. Another minimalistic design: http://geniuslogo.com
There’s an error on your list: You mixed up #1 and #2. Jamie Gregory should be #2 and Joe Nyaggah should be #1.
Nice Collection Here! I myself am a fan of minimalism, in fact my own site is designed in that vein.
hell yeah!! designerbreak loves minimalism.
very nice list, lots of inspiring sites. thanks
Michel
Thanks for including http://www.imaginarydesign.co.uk/ in your post
Thanks for posting my portfolio here.
Minimal works wonders! I used to have a really complicated site and it did nothing for me. My site is now images only (and a little text) and the response has been wonderful.
http://mehallo.com
(and so I stopped my plans to build it out any more – just because) (figured I’d let my blog be the complex thing).

I don’t know what’s your definition of minimalist. Yes, they are beautiful, but I don’t think they are all minimalist. Maybe, Joe Nyaggah and Minimalissimo are, but I think 4wall and TrueSlant are still too crowded.
Great selection.. I love this style..
Will deffinatley be using these as inspiration for my personal site design..
great site. thanks for sharing
ok some of these site are really great & showcase a lot of good work, but non of them would be classed under my impression most of minimalism….most of them have far to much going on to even come close to be considered minimalistic…perhaps you should change the title its a bit misleading…but fantastic selection of websites
Very inspiring post! I’ll be bookmarking quite a few of these.
Also, thanks for featuring http://www.nicksigler.com/ and http://www.cabedge.com/
Thanks for including http://www.brianhoff.net among these other beautiful websites. Appreciated!
Hi Dicky, thanks for listing Minimalissimo! -Maarten

Thank’s for the add
After trying for some time to shed the pounds while retaining some style I have a true appreciation of some of this work.
For me less is more and it is not easy to achieve.
Some really nice design here thank you.
Hi,
Great list! I love minimalistic design cause it conveys the message on a very clear and crisp way.
Cut out all the crap and keep it clean and simple,
Perhaps this one would also be a nice addition to the list:

(It’s my portfolio / blog)
Keep up the good work!

nice minimalist designs, thanks for collection..
Hi,
love the list some absolute great designs.
Ill hold off on the shameless plug for now but would like to give a big hand for Stylish Grey. Its a wordpress theme (http://themeforest.net/item/stylishgrey-wordpress-theme/28207)
I used it and modified it for my own site (http://www.naturalprogression.com.au) as I was stuck for time but love the minimalist approach.
Chers,
Darren
I believe very straight and standard designed websites. Really awesome with simple. Great collection. Thanks for sharing this nice post.
Simplicity rules: I agree. However, the sites shown above are too much the same, no identities: not memorizable.
Simplicity, power and memorizable is the key to a succesfull portfolio. Not standard. Identity!
Love minimal sites! Have always aspired to design one myself. Thanks for the compilation!
Thank you for this article. Every kind of design, from minimal to busy, has it’s place. Personally, I like semi-minimal designs. I think websites look best when open space is used to balance and set off the content and design elements. However, I have been taught that our actions and choices are to be dependent on time and circumstance. So, the type of design chosen should depend on the function of the website. Form follows function. “Less is more” is a relative truth, not an absolute one. At some point, less is nothing.
Minimalistic, simple websites look so much more professional than busy, or crammed websites. For instance compare http://www.Apple.com with http://www.GoDaddy.com (both are HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL) yet one is much easier to navigate.
Some of my faveourite and most inspirational minimalist websites are: http://www.teNriA.com | http://www.Dior.com | http://www.CK.com | http://www.HugoBoss.com
One final important tip!… When designing a site lean towards lighter white colours e.g. Apple, teNriA or Dior instead of dark colours! WHY? Because with modern PCs and Macs and iPhones having glossy/ glass screens, black makes fingerprints, dust and glare highly visible and it spoils the user experience (which is why Apple have a white/ light site)!
Great inspirational blog post!
Great job, i like it.
It took me more than 10 mins to go through all the designs.
Nice work. Keep it up.
Love this post. I use such sites as inspiration for my own designs. I’d love some of your opinions on my own minimalist portfolio page @ http://www.keyboardkitteh.com
Heck If I make a list I’ll be uber happy.
Cheers,
Nav
